This blanket is inspired by the “Flying Heaven Color Wheel Lotus Pattern Ceiling” from the Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes. We present this design through crochet edging. At the center of the ceiling, there are 14 semi-square-headed lotus flowers with clear petal veins. In the center of each flower is a colorful wheel-shaped lotus seedpod. Surrounding the square well are unique triangular pendants. In terms of color, this blanket draws upon the popular Tang dynasty hues of crimson, yellow, and green, creating an overall harmonious and elegant appearance.
The center of the blanket symbolizes the sky, transitioning from a circle to a square, which fully embodies the traditional Chinese cosmological view of “heaven as round and earth as square,” reflecting the principles of yin and yang. The centerpiece is a large lotus flower, representing purity, wealth, and other positive connotations, conveying auspiciousness and good fortune. This expresses the traditional Chinese belief in harmony between heaven and earth, and the aspiration for prosperity and good luck.
